Layla Mirror Effects Swatches (Part II)

Hello, here's the second instalment for the amazing Layla Mirror Effects, which will include shades 05-08 (Purple Diva, Red Hot, Metal Plum & Black As Ebony).  You can find swatches of Part I here

As before, I have 2 coats of the Layla Mirror Effects for swatches shown below, with no base coat or top coat.

05 Purple Diva. A darker version of Cosmo Lilac (02).

06 Red Hot.  This one has the most confusing name in my opinion.  Honestly, I can't find any red hue in it, let alone 'hot'!  It's more of a mauve shade for me.

07 Metal Plum. A dusty purple with a brown hue. I find this very special.

08 Black As Ebony. A charcoal chrome.

Here's my thoughts for this collection.

* These Mirror Effects dried to an almost brush free finish.  I took these photos using a macro lens which blew everything up.  In real life, you will get a smooth chrome finish and any brush stroke is hardly noticeable at all!  They are true chromes!

* These polishes are really unforgiving, accentuating every imperfections on your nails.  Before trying them, I thought I don't have much of a ridge problem but I was so wrong! A good old buff or ridge-filling base is essential before applying these polishes.

* I wish they could offer a wider choice of colours, like green and gold.  There are just too many pinks and purples in this collection.

* Although I haven't put them to the tests yet, I can imagine using them as stamping polishes since they are SO pigmented!  It always bothered me that I did not have the famous China Glaze Millennium in my stash, now I can safely say that Metal Chrome shall fill that void!

  1. first of all - your nails are beautiful.
    Secondly.
What is so "hot" and so "red" about that shade :\ My mind is well and truly stumped.

And "Black as Ebony" ermm.. I dont know about everyone else.. but I dont see any black there or anything as black as ebony :\ maybe its my eyes..

Chromes.. ACK :\ I am not feeling it.. but I agree they would make awesome stamping polishes..

Just a question for you.. do you know where and/or when the Orly FLash Glam FX will be available in the UK (thats if it is.. I so want Mermaid Tail and R.I.P).. if you could help that would be great xx

  4. I have the same thought - too many pinks( And I just don't like such colors in this texture. But I think Layla will fill up their line, like they did with holos

  5. Beautiful swatches as usual. But I agree, there are too many purples in this collection. I would have liked to see some darker metallics.

  7. I don't see the red at all either. Companies like to fool us, I guess.
Love the mirror effect, though like you I think there should be a wider range of colours.

  8. Love that I am finally seeing someone did metallics that are not full of brush stroke marks! I am not sure if anyone would need all 3 of the shades here that fall into the plumy range - they are kind of close to each other. I am going back to the other part 1 to look at those shades again...I am thinking I liked them a ton more than this group.
