Butter London Trustafarian & Dodgy Barnett

Hello, wish everyone is having a great weekend!  We are having an exceptionally hot and sunny Saturday here.  Today I am bringing you swatches of two hot shades from Butter London's 2012 Fall Collection, and they are HOLOS!  That's a real surprise to me, never ever imagine Butter London will also produce holographic nail polishes! With no further ado, let's head straight to the pics!

Trustafarian - a gold holo with a hint of green.  That's 3 coats of Trustafarian, with no base coat nor top coat.

(in the shade)

Dodgy Barnett - a silver holo.  Again, I applied 3 coats of polish with no base coat or top coat.

So what do you think?  Do you think they are linear holos at all? I have a hard time figuring that out! But one thing for sure, they are not the Layla-type-holos. For Trustafarian, I'd say it's leaning towards the scattered type holo while I can see a certain degree of linear holo in Dodgy Barnett.

The formula of these are on the sheer side so if you are applying them alone, you'll definitely need 3 coats to achieve opaqueness.  Other than that, I have no difficulties in using them.  And most important of all, they do give beautiful holograms under the sun!

  1. It's quite strange that some brands are bringing out holos as part of their fall collection! These 2 are gorgeous, just don't knoe if I could part with the cash, especially after seeing so many Layla's and Brazilian holos!

  3. omg, I need Dodgy Barnett! They're absolutely gorgeous and I think 3 coats isn't too bad for the opacity pictured.

  4. Dodgy Barnett is looking blue/silver on my monitor. Non liner is my vote. I also think these are odd for a fall release. I have had so many bad formulations from BL polishes I pretty much look the other way since I have to order them without opening and seeing for myself what they are like. Seeing these are so sheer - I am not all that patient to apply, dry 3X over like you need to on a holo. Great photos - almost makes me want them...but I do have others that pass in the same range as these and hardly wear them. Started off saving 'em - now don't really want all that much bling...but then I am not huge on glitter either. I love shimmer and great glass fleck - love the 2 new OPI DS's...not feeling the $ leaving my purse for these 2 however.

  5. WOW these are amazing! I live for holos-but am not such a fan of Butter London. They just don't work for me-but I may need to rethink these two~
